On March 8th 2018, Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Raghad Kurdi Taib, made history on her first visit to Sarawak Cheshire Home, Kuching.Her Excellency came alone, except for her personal staff and police escort. On her arrival, she was received by the Deputy President of Sarawak Cheshire Home, Dr. Lim Thian Siong and the Executive Committee viz. Mr. Kho Soon Kheng ( Hon. Treasurer), Mr. Donald Law ( Asst. Hon. Secretary), Madam Lee Wee Na( Asst.Hon. Treasurer), Dr. John Fozdar, Mr. Albert Kon, Madam Jane Sebastian, Madam Agnes Foo and Mr. Ronald Lau. Also present were the Administrative Staff , Sister Regina ( Matron) Sister Felis ( Asst. Matron) and Mr. Stephen Strimari ( Clerk), Ms Margaret Anchag ( Occupational Aide) and Madam Maria ( Adult Literacy Teacher) who are teaching adult literacy to some of the residents. Members of the Press were well represented and were present in force. After going through the formalities of signing the Home’s Visitor Book, she was escorted around the Home to meet the staff and the residents. Our Matron Sister Regina conducted the tour to all the wards. Toh Puan personally handed over her personal gifts of Ang Pows, hampers and mandarin oranges to all the residents and staff. She also presented her donations of 8 units Panasonic Standing Fans, 4 sets of Sharp Aquos 32” LED TVs and remote controlled Rotating Antennae. It was a joyous and memorable occasion when Toh Puan mingled happily and without any formalities with the staff and the residents of the Home. She asked many questions about the residents and inquired about their welfare and progress.
